The 20 Chianti Classico Riserva Poggio delle Rose has put on quite a bit of weight since I last tasted it. Today, it comes across as rather powerful and rustic. Smoke, leather, tobacco, menthol and grilled herb overtones add to an impression of darkness and weight. I remember the 2010 as being more refined than this. 2015 - 2025

Bright, full red. Red plum, raspberry, tobacco, mint and sage on the captivating nose. Then nuanced and energetic in the mouth, delivering sharply focused flavors of bitter red cherry pit, violet and tea leaf. Finishes silky and long, with a slightly creamy undertone typical of the wines made in this generous, warm (by Chianti Classico standards) vintage.
