The 2020 Barolo Ravera di Monforte is a powerful, beguiling wine. Black cherry, lavender, spice, menthol, licorice and scorched earth confer somber intensity that is matched by the wine's depth and tannic heft. This wild, savory Barolo is going to need a few years to come into its own. I would prefer a bit more fruit depth to match the tannins, but it is quite impressive just the same. 2026 - 2040
