The 2019 Barolo Perno is fabulous. It shows the youthful austerity of this vintage, married with the textural depth and intensity of this terrific site. Deep, pliant and highly expressive, with tons of nuance, the 2019 is gorgeous. Kirsch, blood orange, cinnamon, cedar and attractive floral overtones lend striking inner perfume throughout. There is an exotic quality here that is impossible to miss. The Perno is a bit rustic in its contours, and yet the quality of the year largely makes up for that.
