Here's a wine of larger-than-life intensity and opulence. One hundred percent Sangiovese reaches impressive heights in the 2013 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione from Renzo Marinai. The wine is inky dark in appearance, with thick richness and fiber at its core. The bouquet offers soft tones with cooked cherry and blackberry preserves followed by spice, leather, tobacco and moist earth. There are hints of wild mushroom and blue flower as well. The wine sits long on the palate, releasing more fruity flavors along the way. Only 2,800 bottles were produced.
